TCI driving licence renewal: identity and old card

TCI DMV lists proof of identity and the expired driving licence for renewal. Its identity rule combines a passport with one accepted status document; replacement of a lost card is a separate service that lists a police report.

Prepare the official request

  1. Select driving licence renewal on the DMV services page, rather than a learner’s permit or replacement.
  2. Get the linked renewal form and complete the requested licence details.
  3. Prepare the passport and one of the accepted status documents listed by DMV.
  4. Bring the expired licence and the form through the current DMV submission route.
  5. Confirm the charge and keep the receipt and issue instructions.

Keep the right evidence

The status list includes documents such as a TCI Status Card, work permit card or permitted renewal evidence, permanent residence certificate and specified government or residence records. Choose the item that actually proves your situation; a random second photo ID is not the same requirement.

Where originals are unavailable, the DMV page allows notarised identity copies. An ordinary phone image does not become notarised when converted or printed. If the licence was lost, ask how replacement and renewal interact and prepare the police report listed for replacement.

If a recipient accepts a personal working copy, you can reduce an accepted reference scan. The result is an image-based PDF or JPG. It does not preserve selectable PDF text, interactive fields or an original digital signature. Keep this output separate from any original, certified copy or unchanged official file required for submission.

For a different identity document, see TCI passport renewal. For work status evidence, see TCI work permit documents.

Questions

What does DMV list for renewal?

Its service table lists proof of identity and the expired driving licence, with a renewal application form.

Is any second photo ID sufficient?

DMV lists a passport plus one accepted status document. Use the category that applies to you.

Does converting a scan notarise it?

No. Notarisation is a separate authorised process. Preserve the required originals or notarised copies.

My documents used to be all scattered through my gallery, I managed to organize them all. I personally like the watermark feature… I used it a lot while traveling, it makes sharing IDs much safer… it stamps a copy with the name of the company you are sharing with (say, an AirBnb or a car rental). It’s still a bit rough around the edges but it’s a new app and the dev seems to be working on it. Price is alright given it’s a one time payment.. one less subscription!
