Separate a limited reference review from the renewal
BVI’s official renewal checklist needs complete readable evidence. Use redaction only for a separate employer or agent reference review that expressly accepts a reduced set of visible details.
How to redact the agreed renewal-reference copy
- Ask what the agent needs to review and whether any fields are genuinely unnecessary for that limited task.
- Open the reference scan and use Blur to cover only the agreed fields.
- Check every page, repeated passport numbers, machine-readable lines and codes. Leave status conditions and endorsements needed for the review visible.
- Download and inspect the saved copy. Retain complete official evidence for the LMS submission.
Do not hide the status the review is meant to check
The purpose of a permit review may depend on a date, condition or endorsement. Removing that detail defeats the check. If the recipient needs the full document, use the accepted complete-copy process instead of applying a standard redaction pattern.
The selected original pixels are replaced in the export, with no removable original-text layer under that region. A repeated identifier outside the box is still visible; review the reverse and all additional pages.
An accepted agent reference copy does not change the government’s requirement for clear renewal evidence. Keep it separate from the official submission.
