When an organisation asks for ID for your personal-data request, agree the evidence first. Add its name, the access-request purpose and date to the passport or driver’s-licence reference copy.
ID evidence for a personal-data request
The Bahamas Data Protection Commissioner’s guide describes giving details to identify a requester. If an organisation asks you for an ID copy, agree whether one is necessary and whether it accepts a marked reference image.
How to watermark a data-access identity-reference copy
- Ask which document and details the organisation needs to identify your request.
- Open the passport or driver’s-licence scan. Enter a label such as “Copy for [organisation], personal-data access, [date]”.
- Adjust Intensity so the purpose is visible over the image while required details stay clear.
- Download JPG or PDF as agreed and inspect the saved copy before sending it through the organisation’s stated channel.
Keep the request tied to one recipient
Replace every bracket in the example with the actual organisation, request and date. A phrase across the document makes the intended use visible even when the attachment is separated from its email.
This is an optional preparation step, not a government requirement to watermark. It does not conceal a number, prevent copying or make a doubtful request trustworthy. If the organisation can identify you without retaining an ID image, use that route.
For the Immigration portal or the employee-badge system, follow the service’s complete-image instructions. An agreed access-request reference copy should not be reused as an official application attachment.
Check the saved copy
Choose JPG, PNG, supported HEIC or PDF up to 25 MB. Only the first ten pages of an input PDF are processed. Download JPG or an image-based PDF; selectable text, fillable fields and digital signatures are not preserved. Keep any original signed or fillable file.
The document is processed in your browser without an account or document upload. The downloaded copy removes camera metadata and leaves the source unchanged.
Use Photo to PDF for the layout, Compress for an attachment ceiling, Watermark for an agreed purpose label or Hide details for agreed unnecessary fields. Save between tools and inspect the final downloaded file.
Common questions
Must a Bahamas access request include a watermarked passport?
No universal passport-copy or watermark requirement is established here. Ask the organisation what it needs to identify you and whether an altered reference copy is accepted.
Does the mark hide my driver’s-licence number?
No. A watermark states the intended purpose. Cover a field separately only when the recipient agrees that it is unnecessary.
Is the source document uploaded to add the mark?
No. Processing stays in your browser without a document upload or account. The source is unchanged and camera metadata is removed from the downloaded copy.
Does the watermark lock a data-access ID PDF?
No. It adds visible recipient-and-purpose wording to the accepted reference copy. It does not encrypt the PDF, certify the passport or licence, or replace the organisation’s identity check.
