Free Canadian passport, PR card and PDF tools
Choose a free tool to combine PDF files, prepare required card sides, reduce a scan, watermark a copy or hide unnecessary details. Follow the recipient's evidence requirements and inspect the saved copy before sending.
- Watermark access-request IDName the organisation and personal-information access request on the identity copy it agrees to accept.
- IRCC scan sizeUse a 2 MB target for a 4 MB IRCC field, while keeping all requested pages and readable details.
- One-file card PDFPut the requested card’s front and back in one Letter PDF for a single IRCC upload field.
- Redact rental evidenceAsk whether showing the original is enough, then hide only agreed extra identifiers on rental evidence.
- Combine PDF filesCombine requested PDF copies and photos in the right order, free in your browser, without uploading them.
Match the file to the Canadian request
For IRCC's single-file fields, uploading a second file replaces the first: combine only the required copies assigned to that field before submitting. Photo to PDF prepares one card and its reverse on a sheet. Combine PDF files joins several PDFs and photos into one file.
For private sharing, ask whether the organisation needs a retained copy at all. The federal Privacy Commissioner questions taking sensitive document copies merely to confirm identity or income. Provincial rules can be stricter; do not treat an optional sharing copy as a requirement.
Match the request to a tool
| You are asked for | Start with | A Canadian example |
|---|---|---|
| One file holding both sides of a card | Photo to PDF | A PR card for an IRCC upload field that keeps a single file |
| Several PDFs or photos in one attachment | Combine PDF files | The requested supporting copies assigned to one IRCC field |
| A file under a size limit | Compress | 4 MB in an IRCC secure account, 5 MB in the IRCC Portal |
| A copy that names who it is for | Watermark | A licence copy for a rental agency |
| A copy without numbers they do not need | Hide details | A health card with the health number covered, when you agree to send one |
Before any of them, ask whether a copy is needed. The Privacy Commissioner of Canada says a landlord who only needs to confirm your identity likely does not need to copy your ID, and in Ontario only providers of provincially funded health services can require your health card.
Doing more than one job
The conversion, compression, watermark and redaction tools crop a photo to the document's edges and include Rotate and Blur. They can straighten a card, mark it and cover a field before export. Keep the untouched original protected and prepare any agreed changes to source copies before combining them.
Merge joins whole files in the order you choose. It keeps all their PDF pages within its limits and preserves existing selectable PDF text. It does not crop photos, edit individual PDF pages or reduce the file to an upload-size target.
What goes in and what comes out
All five tools open JPG, PNG, supported HEIC and PDF files up to 25 MB each. HEIC support depends on the browser; choosing a photo from an iPhone library can provide JPG.
Conversion, compression, watermark and redaction process the first ten pages of an input PDF. Their JPG or PDF output contains images, with location and camera data removed; selectable text, interactive fields and digital signatures are not retained. Use these operations for photos and scans, and keep original government forms separately.
Merge takes 2 to 20 files, up to 25 MB each and 100 MB together, and includes all source PDF pages within those limits and available device memory. Existing selectable text stays selectable; photos stay images. Each photo becomes a separate Letter page with 12 mm margins. A PDF with an opening password cannot be added. Keep signed originals separately because the combined file does not preserve signature validation.
Every output includes the tool's credit. Merge places it on the last page only. If you compress a combined PDF afterward, check the page count: compression still processes only the first ten pages and exports images.
Photo to PDF starts on Letter paper, with A4 a tap away, and lays cards out at real size. The examples on each page are fictional Canadian specimens.
Why nothing is uploaded
Each tool processes your files inside the browser tab. No account or document upload is required. Once the page and its processing resources have loaded, the tool can keep working offline. You choose where the download goes.
For copies you need again and again, the Dokus app keeps the originals encrypted on your iPhone and makes the same watermarked, covered or smaller copies from there, with every sharing tool free. The Canadian guides cover scanning, locking and sending ID on iPhone.
Questions about the tools
Do the tools keep a copy of my document?
No. The file is processed in your browser and never sent to a server, so there is nothing stored on our side to delete.
Which tool comes first if I need both sides under 2 MB?
Photo to PDF first, to put both sides on one page, then Compress with Maximum size at 2 MB. Check that the fine print still reads before you upload.
Can I combine more than ten PDF pages?
Yes, with Combine PDF files. It includes all source PDF pages within its 20-file, 25 MB-per-file and 100 MB-total limits, subject to device memory. The other editing tools process only the first ten PDF pages.
Do the tools work on an iPhone?
Yes, in Safari. Choose the photo from your library or a PDF from Files, and the download lands in Files.
Are the cards in the examples real?
No. Every demonstration uses a fictional Canadian specimen, with invented names and numbers.
