Choose Maltese ID or eResidence, add the requested reverse side and download a PDF with both sides on A4. Identità’s Exempt Person guidance names two-sided card evidence in relevant cases; prepare each required card separately.

Prepare the card evidence for Exempt Person Status

Identità’s Exempt Person checklist asks for both sides of residence and Maltese ID cards in relevant cases. Use your own category’s checklist to decide whose cards are required. This tool prepares one card with its reverse at a time, rather than combining several people’s documents.

For a required full-passport submission, use a workflow that preserves every required page: only the first ten input PDF pages are processed here.

Combine a Maltese card’s two sides

  1. Choose the front and back photos together. Swap their order with the arrows if necessary.
  2. Select Maltese ID card or eResidence card. Adjust the detected crop if the corners need correcting and rotate upright.
  3. Keep Front and back on one sheet for an A4 copy. Switch it off when the checklist asks for a separate page per side.
  4. Select PDF, download and check that the card edges, numbers, validity dates and required reverse-side details are readable.

A4 is 210 by 297 mm. Card presets use a real-size layout of 85.6 by 54 mm. At 100%, print with Actual Size. Optional 150% or 200% enlargement is a layout choice; this page does not establish an enlargement requirement for Malta.

Match the copy to your Identità application

Identità’s Exempt Person guidance includes both sides of a residence card and Maltese national’s ID for relevant categories. That is a reason to keep clear front and back photos available, not a rule that every Maltese application accepts two cards or one combined sheet. Follow the checklist for your category.

Identità’s Single Permit checklist requires the whole passport in PDF, including blank pages, and presentation of the original. This tool only uses the first ten pages of an input PDF. Do not run a longer full-passport submission through it: the saved copy would be incomplete. Keep every page required by your own checklist.

Select Passport only for a recipient who asks for an identity-page copy, or Document for a full-page scan. Do not treat a single passport identity page as a complete passport submission.

A PDF does not create an eID account

An eID account is the government authentication mechanism for online services. It is obtained through the official registration process; converting your ID card to PDF does not enrol you or produce a verified digital identity.

Use Compress for a smaller attachment. Only watermark or hide details when that recipient accepts changes.

Choose JPG, PNG, HEIC or PDF up to 25 MB. HEIC depends on browser support; choosing a photo from the iPhone library can provide JPG. Only the first ten pages of an input PDF are used. The output is JPG or an image-based PDF: selectable text, form fields and digital signatures are not preserved. Keep the original when those features matter.

Processing stays in your browser, with no document upload or account. The downloaded copy removes camera metadata and leaves your chosen source unchanged.

Common questions

Can this prepare two-sided card evidence for Exempt Person Status?

Yes. For the categories whose checklist asks for residence-card or Maltese-ID sides, prepare each requested card and its reverse as a separate PDF. This does not assemble the full application or a whole-passport copy.

Can I put both sides of my eResidence card in one PDF for free?

Yes. Choose the two photos and select the eResidence card preset. Use one A4 sheet or separate pages as requested.

Can I prepare a whole passport for a Single Permit here?

Do not process a PDF over ten pages here: only its first ten pages are used. Identità requires every passport page, including blank pages, so a truncated file is unsuitable.

Is this a certified Maltese ID copy?

No. It is an image-based reference copy. Obtain any certification or original-document check the recipient requires separately.
